Privacy

We collect as little as we can. No cookies, no ads, no tracking across sites. This page explains what we do handle, and why.
Who is responsible
Deft is responsible for the personal data described here. Email: support@deftskills.dev.
When you buy Deft, Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) handles your payment as the seller, under its own privacy policy.
What we handle, and why
- Visiting this site. Our host, Cloudflare, handles your IP address and basic request details to show you the site and protect it from attacks. Why: our legitimate interest in a site that works and stays safe. Cloudflare keeps these logs only briefly.
- Counting visits. Umami counts visits for us: the pages, the site you came from, your browser, device type and country, and clicks on the buy and download buttons. It uses no cookies and doesn’t store your IP address in its statistics, so we can’t tell who you are. Why: our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the site work.
- Buying Deft. Polar shares your name, email address, billing address, tax ID if you give one, and order with us, so we can give you the download, updates and help. Why: our contract with you. We keep this while you can get updates.
- Writing to us. If you email us, we use your address and your message to answer. Why: our legitimate interest in answering, or our contract with you if you bought Deft. We delete support emails two years after the last message, unless we need them for a dispute.
We don’t sell your data, use it for ads, or make decisions about you by machine alone.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, and forwarding support email.
- Umami Software, Inc.: visit counts.
- Polar Software, Inc.: sales, under its own privacy policy.
- Google (Gmail): our support inbox.
Cloudflare and Umami handle data for us under data processing agreements. Polar handles payments on its own account. Our support inbox is a regular Gmail account, which runs under Google’s own terms and privacy policy rather than such an agreement.
Data outside the EU
These companies are based in the US. Transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where a company is certified, or by the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. One thing is kept in your browser: after you buy, the thank-you page keeps Polar’s one-hour pass in that tab only, so it can show your download and key. It goes when you close the tab, and it stops working after an hour.
The checkout runs on Polar’s own site, which explains its cookies in its privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it, or delete it;
- limit how we use it, or stop using it;
- send it to you in a format you can take elsewhere.
Email support@deftskills.dev. We answer within one month.
You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work. In Hungary, that’s NAIH. The EU list of authorities has the others.
Children
Deft isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we update the date at the top, and tell buyers by email.
